Database Developer (Toronto office)
We are currently seeking an experienced Database Developer with a proven track record of delivering high quality results within the finance industry.
Specific job responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):
- Working closely with business users and development teams to understand business requirements and propose technical solutions;
- Redesign and consolidate reporting applications to be more maintainable;
- Design, code, test, document and implement the data extraction, transformation, and loading of source data into data warehouses that support the company's business intelligence and decision support;
- Conduct unit and system tests on various application components;
- Perform tuning and query optimization;
- Provide documentation and cross training to other members regarding component implementation;
- Deliver business and technical solutions in a fast paced environment;
Applicants should have:
- Experience in working with very large, high volume databases, preferably including MSSQL and MySQL, .NET platform
- Excellent data analysis, problem-solving and organization skills (analysis using complex SQL queries preferred);
- Knowledge of QA processes;
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written);
- Proven leadership and project management capabilities;
- Must be a self-starter and a fast-learner, with high initiative, independent;
- The ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment;
- Experience with C++ would be an asset;
- Experience with financial trading protocols, especially FIX an asset;
